San Diego was founded by Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo in 1542 In 1901, the first army operation was astablished, and It was a navy coaling station. Since World War II, the military has played a leading role in the local economy. Following the end of the Cold War the military presence diminished considerably. There are many types of languages in San Diego. English is a well known one. But there are people who speak Spanish, Chinese, French, and Arabic. Those are also very popular. I speak English. So does my 2 sisters and mom. My dad is from Africa. He speaks English, but he also speaks Wolof. -Saliou
